Interviews

This is a complicated subject with many different approaches but as a food graduate you are an intelligent professional and Blue Spark will treat you as such. This section will not be giving condescending advice like "arrive on time, be smart and don't dunk your biscuits"; we will take that as given. This section is divided into Recruitment Consultancy interviews and Client Interviews:

Recruitment Consultancy Interviews:

Face to face or over the telephone, a good recruitment consultant will put you at ease and encourage you to be open about your career aspirations. The format should be friendly and informal. The consultant will be interested in your core ability, strengths and weaknesses, transferable skills as well as your longer term career and life objectives.

All our consultants will have a mental list of vacancies and will try and identify a fit with one or more of those. A Blue Spark consultant will also be thinking more strategically. We build relationships with candidates; we follow their careers, become confidantes, providing support and advice when needed.

Please do not be fooled by the deliberate relaxed approach to recruitment consultancy interviews, remember you are still being assessed. Treat is as a trial for a 'real' interview, and whatever your opinion of recruitment consultants, be professional. Don't leave a lasting negative impression that will make a consultant think twice about presenting you to their favourite client!

Client Interviews:

Every food business is different; their style, work ethic, environment, ethos and culture. Their methods of candidate assessment also differ.

Blue Spark will help you prepare for each individual client interview. We develop long term relationships with our clients and will be able to give guidance on how to prepare and what to expect at each interview.

If we have organised an interview for you, we promise to give you constructive and timely feedback, as this information is invaluable to you and to us. We can then discuss if any improvements need to be made, providing you with support and guidance for subsequent interviews
