The Company

Our client is a successful food business within the chilled arena, working tirelessly to produce consistently high quality, innovative products for brand & major retail customers. With their passion for people and delivering industry leading performance, they are now seeking a Development Technologist to take the lead in developing new products, formats and packaging from initial concept through development to factory production.

The Role

Reporting to Head of Innovation & Marketing you will be an integral member of the development team helping to guarantee the effective development of new products in this exciting product category.

You will be responsible for the daily delivery of individual projects in order to achieve ambitious innovation goals and budget objectives within this fast moving category. As a key member of the Innovations team, you will be actively involved with all the stages of the development process such as idea generation and creative development as well as trialling, process development and factory launch. You will liaise closely with internal teams to effectively deliver project plans, and you’ll also be in regular contact with customers to ensure their needs are met.

Additional responsibilities include prepare and deliver ideation sessions and food safaris, generate innovative packaging solutions and ensure new products and packs are scaled up successfully and within commercial target cost.

This really broad role will allow you to get involved in every aspect of developing a product and take ownership of it from ideation all the way through to launch. With the team being small and agile, you can get to learn about different aspects of the business as well as develop a rounded career within NPD.

The Person

Suit a creative and commercially focused Technologist ready to take on a new challenge in an exciting and innovative category. You will have a food science / food technology qualification and experience of working in a similar development role for a food manufacturer. Your communication skills need to be highly effective as you’ll be collaborating frequently with internal colleagues, customers and suppliers.

You’ll also need to have excellent organisational and project management skills, be able to juggling projects at different stages in the development process and be very agile in your ways of working.
