This highly regarding business are upping their game when it comes to product innovation and are investing heavily in R&D, sustainability and recycling initiatives that will keep them a good few steps ahead of their competitors. They have created a new role for an outstanding Technical Innovation Manager to join their Product / R&D Team to help develop, drive and deliver innovation projects.
This is a Divisional role and reports to the Business Improvement Director were you will work as part of a talented and agile R&D team to design, develop and scale first to market products.
You will work cross-functionally across the business to lead the product life-cycle from conceptualisation to product sign off. Through managing each stage of the process you’ll create a robust system with solid documentation and reliable methodology to bring in best practice that accelerates the innovation strategy. You will also help build and form a first-class product team that will lead the way on a variety of projects and work closely with sites across Europe.
As well as managing the stage-gate process you will be involved in sourcing suppliers, ensuring operational and quality standards, successful pro-typing, costing and feasibility. You will monitor and improve the performance of the innovation lifecycle, working with stakeholders across all regions, levels and functions to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
We are looking for a highly ambitious, proactive and commercially astute R&D professional who has broad based experience within an FMCG / manufacturing environment (short cycle, fast moving product sector).
You will have a proven track record of leading pioneering development, understand how to leverage functional expertise to deliver commercially viable products and can embed a solid stage gate process. You will also need to understand operational capability and supply chain as well as quality, cost and delivery challenges.
Being solutions driven you must have a natural flair for making things happen and influencing those around you, having the tenacity and agility to gain the confidence of the business and key stakeholders.
Your leadership and communication skills will be second to none in order to collaborate at all levels, allowing you to inform, influence, engage and inspire teams. Ideally you will have experience of managing virtual, cross-functional divisional or regional project teams to achieve delivery goals. You will need to be able to operate independently, travel to Europe on a regular basis and be able to connect with people quickly.
