The Company

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your NPD career with a prominent food business who produce a vast range of innovative products for the UK retailers and Out of Home channel. They are currently seeking a confident and ambitious Development Controller to create, manage, and deliver a strong innovation strategy whilst driving for continuous improvement across the business.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Development you will be managing the NPD team and creating outstanding additions for new and existing ranges. You will develop, communicate and deliver the NPD pipeline from concept stage through to launch for not only branded, but own label products too. You will be responsible for developing an innovation strategy that aligns with category and consumer needs, continually keeping ahead of competitors.

Persuasively presenting to and influencing your customers and colleagues, you will demonstrate a thorough understanding of their requirements through solutions which also meet business objectives and product margins. You will support and shape your team, motivating them to deliver innovation and excellence with pride whilst offering opportunities for personal development. You’ll be drumming up enthusiasm for new ingredients and trends, promoting a foodie culture to capitalise on genuine passion and curiosity to enhance NPD.

The Person

We are looking for an accomplished and commercially astute Senior NPD professional, educated to degree level, with extensive experience and knowledge of the NPD process gained from a branded or own label food manufacturing environment. To be successful in this role you’ll need to have experience of working with the UK major retailers and a proven track record of delivering NPD strategies.

Amazing leadership and people management skills are essential with proven ability to coach and mentor teams. You will also be confident and personable in order to build strong relationships with customers. Solid project management, organisational and influencing skills are required as you will be working cross-functionally to achieve ambitious company goals within a very competitive market.

Crucially, you will have a genuine passion and interest in food with an infectious enthusiasm for delivering dynamic and innovative products.
