The Company

Supplying delicious products to UK retailers, this renowned global business is looking for a driven and motivated Packaging Manager to join their innovation team.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Innovation, you’ll be leading the development of new packaging ideas from concept to launch, keeping up with the latest developments and following market trends to identify customer and consumer needs.

You will be responsible for organising and managing packaging trials within the factory as well as attending packaging print runs and coordinating travel tests to ensure all packaging products meet the criteria for functionality, shelf presence and consumer usability. Ensuring that final products are functional and fit for purpose, you’ll aim to produce items which match current trends, taking advantage of any business opportunities as you design and manage packaging mock-ups, working from briefs and use information gained from customer meetings.

Your accountability will also include managing packaging operations including lead-times, printing quotations, POs as well as overseeing artwork approvals for all product categories to guarantee all packaging elements are in line with company strategy and customer requirements.

Additionally, you will manage site led projects such as cost reduction opportunities, line efficiency and drive the sustainability agenda for the business. You will also work closely with procurement by managing strategic relationships with current supplier base and participating in new supplier selection and onboarding.

The Person

We are looking for an organised and technically proficient Packaging Manager with experience of working in a similar role within food manufacturing. You will also have a good understanding of UK retailer requirements and their supply chain. Ideally, you will have experience with packaging procurement and negotiations.

Able to effectively project manage you’ll need to have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills in order to effectively work on multiple projects along with a keen eye for detail and problem solving abilities. You will be liaising with internal teams, suppliers and customers so your communication skills must be first rate too.
